(Thamnophilidae; syn. Drymophila † Scaled Antbird D. squamata) Gr. ταινιδιον tainidion small ribbon < dim. ταινια tainia band; ουρα oura tail. Reichenbach's 1850, plate LII, labelled Turdinae: Myiotherinae, shows the banded under-tail of this group of antbirds; "Taenidiura Reichenbach, 1850, Avium Systema Naturale, pl. LII (no specific names given). Type, by subsequent designation (G. Gray, 1855, Cat. Genera Subgenera Birds Brit. Mus., p. 42), Myiothera squamata Lichtenstein, 1823." (JAJ 2021).
