(Gruidae; syn. Anthropoides † Blue Crane A. paradiseus) Gr. τετρα- tetra- four- < τεσσαρες tessares four; πτερυξ pterux, πτερυγος pterugos wing, feathers (cf. τετραπτερος tetrapteros four-winged); alluding to the elongated tertials which extend almost to the ground, giving the impression of a very long tail (Björn Bergenholtz in litt.); "Tetrapteryx Thunberg, K.
