On 29th December 1995 a single individual of Golden-chested Tanager (Bangsia rothschildi) was perched at the side entrance to its mossy nest. The nest was situated directly above the trail to Pueblo Nuevo (500 m), Córdoba department (NW Colombia),  in older second-growth woodland on a cross branch about 10 m up, and exactly matches the description given in Hilty and Brown (1986) for that of its Central American counterpart, the Blue-and-gold Tanager (Bangsia arcaei), confirming their conclusion that the nests were similar.
