On 31 October 2014, an adult Black-throated Accentor (Prunella atrogularis) was ringed at Cernek Ringing Station, Kızılırmak Delta, Samsun, by Arzu Gürsoy and her ringing team. The bird was ringed around noon, but was not seen again after being released. It was a winter-plumaged adult, but subspecific identity was not determined during the ringing process.

Kızılırmak Delta, located in roughly the centre of the southern Black Sea coast, is known for its migrant falls, especially in autumn, and there are a number of previous records of Siberian birds there.

This was the first record of the species in Turkey and one of the few in the Middle East.
