Introduction

The African Tailorbird is poorly known, and basic information is lacking for many aspects of its natural history, including diet, breeding, and population biology. Its range needs to be better mapped in southwestern Tanzania, and there are probably several unknown populations in some of the small montane forest areas in the Songwe, Mbeya, and Njombe regions.
