Movements and Migration

Movement

The Blue-throated Barbet is mostly resident throughout its range. Birds breeding at higher altitudes in India and Bangladesh may move downslope to the lowlands in winter (1). It apparently shows some variation in seasonal abundance, but is typically recorded throughout the year in Himachal Pradesh, India (34), likely in lower-altitude hill forests, as is the case in neighboring Uttarakhand (AK).
