Introduction

Dr. Robert J. Craig is Executive Director of Bird Conservation Research, Inc. and a research scientist in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, University of Connecticut. He has studied the community ecology, behavioral ecology and conservation biology of birds for over 50 years. In addition to his long-term investigations into the dynamics of temperate marsh and forest bird communities and work on effects of forest fragmentation on birds, he has since 1988 studied the conservation of tropical Pacific forest birds.
