Introduction

A native of Madrid, Alfredo Salvador, Ph.D. Universidad Complutense, Madrid (1979), was a professor at the Universities Autónoma of Madrid and León. Much of his career was spent as a researcher in herpetology at the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (CSIC), Madrid. Throughout this time he has had a great interest in scientific dissemination, both of amphibians and reptiles, and other Spanish vertebrates. He has published several field guides on amphibians and reptiles, and has been an editor and author of species accounts in the Enciclopedia Virtual de los Vertebrados Españoles.
