Introduction

Crested Fireback occurs on the Thai-Malay Peninsula south of the Isthmus of Kra, and on Sumatra and Borneo. On the Peninsula it occurs from Melaka and northeast Johor north to approximately 10°30’N, including the southernmost tip of Myanmar (39, 4); it is not known from any of the Peninsula’s small offshore islands (4). The species is widespread in suitable habitat throughout Borneo (25) and Sumatra (24).
