Table 2
Mean, SD, and sample size (n) of measurements for Golden-winged Warblers at specified locations and seasons.
Male beak marginally longer than female: 8.29 mm vs. 8.22 mm from nares to tip in Kentucky (PJH) and 11.29 vs 11.21 mm for culmen in Ontario (Vallender, pers. com.). Male wing chord 6% larger than female averaged for all sites (Table x). Male mass larger than female during winter and migration, although based on only one site each. Female mass generally larger than male during breeding season, although two sites have contrary trend (Table x).

Table 3
Trend estimates for the number of Golden-winged Warblers on Breeding Bird Survey routes for the period 1966–1990.
Trend estimates are calculated as the ratio of endpoints from the annual indices. They are presented as a yearly percentage change. Data from states with less than 10 routes are of limited statistical significance (S. Droege, U.S.F.W., Office of Migratory Bird Management, pers. comm.). The confidence intervals represent the 2.5% and 97.5% percentiles of the posterior distribution of trend estimates. These values replace the precision estimates and p values presented in earlier analyses. If the credible interval does not contain 0, the result could be judged significant.
