Priorities for Future Research

Introduction

Assess the impact of succession, invasive species, and climate change on breeding density.Distinguish source and sink habitats based on demographic data, especially for regions sympatric with Blue-winged Warblers where fecundity estimates must be corrected for the frequency of hybridization.Develop models on a local and a landscape scale that predict the impact of habitat, hybridization, and competition on persistence of Golden-winged Warbler populations. Continue collection of habitat- and site-specific data to increase the utility of these models. Identify migratory and wintering habitat and determine threats.Determine the impact of anthropogenic migratory obstacles (communication towers, wind towers, buildings, vehicles) and factors that influence mortality rates.
