Undescribed.
Immature
The head and upperparts are dark brownish admixed with blue, whilst the throat and chin are dark brown with pale streaks. The breast is bluish, the belly gray brown, and the lower belly and vent rufous brown.
Adult
Female. The nominate subspecies has the head and upperparts dark blue except for a white pre-ocular spot and rust-brown rump. The cheeks and ear coverts are chestnut brown or tinged browner, extending to the throat and upper breast. The belly is slate gray, becoming more rufous on the vent and undertail coverts.
Male. Plumage is entirely dark blue except for slightly brighter metallic blue tips to the sides of the crown, ear coverts, and throat (these tips are visible only at close range and in good light), the blackish lores and face, indistinct white patches at the sides of the base of the tail, and a rusty-brown tinge to the fringes of the primaries and on the lower flanks, becoming more noticeable on the vent and undertail coverts.
