Southern Luzon.

Subspecies mayonensis is similar to the nominate thomassoni, but has less contrast between the hood and the body. The hood is black on the crown and dark blackish brown on the nape, neck, face, throat, and breast, and the rest of the plumage is glossy black with a white-streaked vent (10 Mearns, E.A. (1907).
