Movements and Migration

Movement

Presumably sedentary, but it avoids forests when the snow is deeper than 1 m (50).

Dispersal and Site Fidelity

Little known. It can use pine plantations for dispersal when native forest is absent (51). It appears to be highly mobile in fragmented forest (46). It is also one of the understory birds most likely to move to scattered cover from dense forest. It does not move to open pastures, making it difficult to assess its dispersal and movement (44, 52).

Migration Overview

Presumably resident.
