Song

Indonesian Serin gives a short tinkling trill, similar to that of Black-capped White-eye (Zosterops atricapilla), introduced by 1–4 harsh twitch notes, with the trill lasting less than 1.5 seconds, and delivered at a rate of 16 notes a second (1, 16).

Calls

Documented calls include a dull, metallic twit-twit-twit and a double-noted tit-twit (16). Ottaviani (2) noted that recordings made in Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi, are “very different from those of chaseni [= orientalis]”, although these supposed differences were not actually elucidated.

Geographic Variation

Poorly known, but apparently some regional variation. The vocalizations of renatae are completely unknown, while birds in Lore Lindu and surrounding environs , central Sulawesi, Indonesia, apparently differ from those elsewhere (2).

Nonvocal Sounds

None documented.
