Pompadour Cotinga occupies the canopy of humid evergreen lowland forest, especially terra firme forest and forest on white sandy soils, e.g., campinarana, and varillal (30, 2, 1), but also locally in seasonally flooded black-water forest (igapó) in northern Brazil (33). It usually occurs below 500 m, although it reaches as high as 1,300 m in southern Venezuela (34, 2, 1).
