Introduction
The assemblage of birds in this family is strange and is composed of species that have traditionally been grouped with the New World flycatchers. From the puzzling but beautiful crown of feathers of the royal flycatchers (Onychorhynchus sp.), to the energetic Myiobius flycatchers, the members of this family are distributed through Central and South America, where they are found from lowland tropical forest to montane cloud forest.
