Prasad Ganpule is a Petrochemical Engineer and MBA who runs an export business and bird watches as a hobby. He has extensively toured all over India, especially in the Himalayas. He lives in Morbi, Gujarat, and the birds of his home state are of special interest to him. He is on the editorial board of Indian BIRDS (http://www.indianbirds.in/) and is an editor of Flamingo Gujarat (https://www.flamingogujarat.com/). He is also the author of the checklist of the birds of Gujarat.

Prasad has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals in India as well as abroad. He is interested in all taxonomic groups, especially those that are difficult to identify in the field. He is currently involved in the project of making a field guide of the birds of Gujarat, for which he has extensively surveyed all parts of the state.
