Among the birdkeepers in Java, the whole Zosterops genus is known by the name "Pleci". Some birdkeepers may differentiate any kind of yellow-breasted white-eye as "pleci dakun" (dakun=dada kuning, or yellow-breast) and any gray-breasted white-eye as "pleci montanus", no matter which taxonomic group it belongs to. Therefore, any studies that include interviews with local birdkeepers and aimed at any particular species of white-eyes needs to be done with care to minimize bias from misidentification.
