Conservation and Management

NEAR THREATENED (8). Restricted-range species: present in Peruvian East Andean Foothills Endemic Bird Area. Its small population alone puts it at potential risk and any confirmation of a decline would trigger uplisting to Vulnerable.

Effects of Human Activity

The Sira Communal Reserve provides some protection, and steep topography and lack of roads in Sira Range may limit degree of human influence. Nevertheless, both mining and logging activities and oil exploration are under way in the region, posing threats to the montane forests; in the longer term; effects of climate change on these habitats could be a further threat (2).
