Identification
Field Identification
22–26 cm; 58–64 g. Medium-sized, longish-tailed Turdoides babbler with dark brown upperparts, narrowly streaked pale underparts and variably whitish face with a longish decurved dark bill.
Similar Species
The whitish face, slightly decurved blackish bill, and unique black shaft streaks that are noticeable on the pale underparts separate Spiny Babbler from the similar Jungle Babbler (Argya striata), Common Babbler (Argya caudata), and Striated Babbler (Argya earlei).
