Systematics History

Sylvia indica Vieillot, 1817, Nouveau Dictionnaire D'histoire Naturelle, Appliquée Aux Arts, à L'agriculture, à L'économie Rurale et Domestique, à la Médicine, etc. 11:267 (6). Type locality listed as India (7), but later restricted to Darjeeling (8).

Distribution

Central and eastern Himalayas, from northern India (Uttarakhand) east to Arunachal Pradesh and southeastern Tibet.

Tarsiger indicus yunnanensis Scientific name definitions

Systematics History

Tarsiger indicus yunnanensis Rothschild, 1922, Bulletin of the British Ornithologists' Club 43:10. Type locality given as "Lichiang Range, 10,000 ft." (9).

Distribution

Southern China (northeastern Sichuan south to northern Yunnan), northern Myanmar, and northern Vietnam (western Tonkin).

Field Identification

Subspecies yunnanensis has paler throat, yellower underparts, and greener vent.
