Prasad Ganpule is a Petrochemical Engineer and MBA, runs an export business and bird watching is a hobby for him. He has extensively toured all over India, especially in the Himalayas. He lives in Morbi, Gujarat, and the birds of his home state of Gujarat are of special interest to him. He is on the editorial board of Indian BIRDS (http://www.indianbirds.in/) and an associate editor of Flamingo Gujarat (http://bcsg.co.in/flamingogujarat/). He is also the author of the checklist of the birds of Gujarat.

Prasad has published more than 30 papers in peer reviewed journals in India as well as abroad. He is interested in all taxonomic groups, and especially, in the field identification of difficult to identify birds. He is currently involved in the project of making a field guide of the birds of Gujarat, for which he has extensively surveyed all parts of the state.
